Networks Administrator (Knob Noster, MO)

Work Location: Whiteman AFB, Knob Noster, MO

Position Description
Maintain various government networks in an operational ready state and assist teams with solutions for real-time connectivity issues associated with critical communication infrastructure. Perform maintenance and upgrades to all government networks and supported devices required to sustain 24/7 operations. Assist teams to define, document, and integrate required IT capabilities which could enhance government mission. Networks and systems maintained include NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS, VoIP, NSTS phone system, Video Teleconferencing suites, internal and external video dissemination, and internal and external voice communications. Other networks of various classifications may be included but are not listed here. Shift work may be required.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma augmented by ongoing technical training, certification, and work experience of at least 2 years
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II eligibility; must have CompTIA Sec+ or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Eligibility for TS/SCI clearance. Applicants for this position will be asked to provide information necessary for determining eligibility with the DoD Adjudication Facility
  • Possess current state driver’s license
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting IP LANs and WANs, IP multicast systems, and VoIP networks
  • Familiarity with Cisco IOS

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Possess CompTIA Net+ certification
  • Experience with ATM networks, ATM protocols, and test equipment
  • Experience maintaining C4ISR networks, systems, and applications
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills in a 24/7 team environment
  • Experience with TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NDS, NT Domain strategies, methodologies, and hardening protocols
  • Familiarity with UNIX or LINUX as it integrates with a Windows environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities for managing divers networks, hardware, and applications
  • Adept at using the MS Office suite for generating reports, tracking matrices, briefs, etc.
  • Possess an understanding of network topology, standards, and hardening practices

General Job Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, install and provide Tier I and II levels, end-to-end support for multiple networks in a multi-protocol environment
  • Identify and resolve network, hardware, and application outages
  • Monitor, maintain, and manage cross-platform inter-connectivity between multiple remote locations
  • Utilize knowledge repository for expeditious resolution; document outages and solutions for future reference
  • Contribute to the design, installation, and administration of supported systems
